Initial Mastery of Decorative Painting Certificate
Students who successfully complete this course will receive NASODA’S prestigious Certificate
of Initial Mastery.
NASODA is now offering our premier expanded course in decorative
painting. As we strive to continue to elevate the educational
standard in North America, this 10-week course is held
one week per month from February to November.
Enrollment deadline for the IM program is January 5, 2004. Tuition is
$10,500. Deposit of 50% required, balance due by January 5, 2004. Special
financing may be available. Early registration paid in full before
December 15, 2003 is $9,500.

Description
For those who want to reap the rewards of serious study, this course
will include the following:
- Preparation and base coat painting, including
product information on latex, waterborne acrylics, alkyd paints, lacquer
and varnish.
- Classical wall glazing and patinas, marking, ornamentation and trompe
l’oeil techniques will be rendered on large 4’ x 8’ panels to help
simulate a live application experience.
- Marbles and stone may include blanc veinee, vert de mer, portor,
yellow sienna, grand antique, petite antique, onyx, fleur de pescher,
breche violette. Swedish green, sandstone, lapis lazuli and malachite.
- Woodgraining may include oak heartgrain and quarter-sawn, mahogany,
birch, birdseye maple, walnut, and palisander.
- Exotic finishes include tortoise shell, leopard and snakeskin.
- Students will learn practical application of color theory,
perspective drawing, and the study of skies, clouds and atmosphere as we
begin to turn newly acquired skills into 4’ x 8’ murals for professional
presentation.
- Age old techniques of water gilding using 23K gold leaf, pastiglia,
sgraffito, punching, mordant gilding, and chemical patination of various
metal leaf are important crafts of our profession, yet rarely taught
today.
This course is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for you to invest in your
career at a higher level. Business practices including consultation,
development of design, custom sampling, proposals, client relationships,
referrals, sub-contracting, networking, and working with interior
designers are discussed.
Students who successfully complete this premier course will receive
NASODA’S prestigious Certificate of Initial Mastery. Students
enrolled for this course will also receive a 25% discount on any one
2-5 day class during 2003-2004.

Notes:
- Most classes start at 8:00am and finish at 4:00pm. Any changes
will be so noted.
- Full payment is required three weeks prior to the start of class.
