Michele
Santilli, Director of NASODA
As director of NASODA, Michele Santilli is committed to the pursuit of
excellence in education, and to the advancement of decorative painting
in North America. Striving to elevate the standard, she has created a comprehensive
curriculum to meet the needs of the accomplished decorative painter. Her
passion for teaching is evident to those who sit under her instruction.
Both self-taught and classically trained, Michele has studied decorative
painting in the US and abroad, with a background in graphic art and interior
design. Having experience in both commercial and residential application,
students benefit from he practical business knowledge, as well as her painting
expertise. Michele has taught at the national level for the past five years
including courses for the Society
of Gilders, SALI, the College
of DuPage,
the University of Michigan, and the Smithsonian
Institute. She’s
served as regional trainer for two international manufacturers and continues
to provide technical support for professional painters and designers across
North America.
Michele is a national member of PDCA and The Lincoln
State Council, and
is vice-president of PDCA’s Forum for Excellence in craftsmanship.
A member of the International Salon
of Decorative Painters, she will be
hosting this international gathering in 2008.
Together, as she welcomes her colleagues to the US as guest instructors,
North American artisans now have the rare opportunity to study at a world-class
level.
